Obama's Secret Weapon

Tue Jun 10, 2008 at 04:03:46 PM PDT

They underestimate him. His opponents that is. Everyone reading this blog knows that Obama is an amazingly gifted politician, a record-breaking fundraiser, and an organizing machine. We also know that he is running not on the failed 50% + 1 strategy of the past, but that he will expand the map and put many more states in play this year. States such as Alaska, Colorado, Nevada, New Mexico, Louisiana, Missouri, Mississippi, Georgia, North Carolina, Virginia, New Hampshire that have gone red in the last several Presidential cycles.

At RedState:

We've heard a lot of blather about how the changing electoral dynamic favors Obama playing ball in the once-upon-a-time GOP strongholds: Virginia, North Carolina, Colorado, Nevada, etc. It's the rebirth, the redemption of Howard Dean's old 50 State Strategy.

I like the notion of Barry throwing money at Mississippi and Colorado in earnest hopes of winning their electors and thus the Presidency, and thus his face on the $7-bill. But it's not going to happen.

These poor fools. I almost pity them. They're choosing to willfully ignore the massive voter registration drives Obama has put together which will bring millions of new Democrats into the fold.

They're choosing to willfully ignore the billion dollars or more that Obama will raise (my gut prediction is that by November he will have 5 million donors averaging $200/person).

Here's Charlie Cook, as quoted in the red-state piece:

Sure, a candidate might give some modicum of attention to all 50 states; the appearances are important. But if that candidate spends significant resources in the 20-25 states that are a lock for him or his opponent, he will look pretty foolish when his top priority states run shy on money down the final stretch.

LMAO!!! Do you really believe Obama is going to run out of money? Extremely doubtful.

These people don't get it yet. Obama has changed the face of American politics in ways that none of us fully grasp yet. And these guys are burying their heads in the sand instead of thinking about strategies and ways they can compete against the Obama-juggernaut. It astounds me because doesn't all this sound familiar?

Hillary's campaign willfully ignored Obama's organizational and fundraising prowess. They willfully ignored competing in states they didn't think they needed to compete in. And they willfully ignored where the energy would come from to help their candidate keep pace. Now, those morons on the right-wing are making the same mistake.

Underestimate this guy at your own peril, because he's damn good.
