Obama Raleigh Office Opening: Great Success

Hey y'all. I'm liveblogging from Obama HQ here in Raleigh, NC. I'm about to hit the streets to do voter reg, but I have a few minutes to bang out a quick summary of the official Obama Raleigh Office opening.
The event was scheduled for 10 am this morning, and there was concern over turnout between pending thunderstorms and a Raleigh City Half Marathon taking place at the same time. However, as the hour drew near, more and more volunteers poured in from surrounding streets. By 10 am we had a brisk crowd of 125-150 people hanging out across the street from the office. The audience included State Speaker Dan Blue, and State Representatives Vernon Malone and Ty Harrell. Ty was asked to come up and speak and delivered some rousing words to get the crowd fired up and ready to go.
After a few more words from the Obama staffers, we were divided up into groups to canvass various parts of Wake, Johnston and Franklin Counties in order to register new voters. Time to go hit the streets :-)
Yes we can!
