I just talked to Gov. Jim Doyle in North Carolina

Blogging from Obama HQ here in Raleigh where the state of North Carolina just gave a warm welcome to Wisconsin Governor Jim Doyle.
Gov. Doyle was introduced to the audience of 50 by North Carolina House Speaker Dan Blue. When Doyle stepped up to the podium he proceeded to tell us exactly why he's supporting Barack Obama. He talked about how Obama brought in thousands of new people to the process in the state of Wisconsin and how the state recorded record turnout in their primary despite chilly 5 degree temperatures.
Then the Governor proceeded to blast HRC on her vote to give tax subsidies to the oil companies, and compared that to Sen. Obama who came out against those tax breaks. Doyle also brought up the courage Obama displayed when he gave his energy independence speech not in front of an environmental group, but in front of an auto plant in Detroit. "We haven't seen that kind of courage in Democratic politics in a long long time," Doyle said. That line received an ovation from the crowd.
Finally, the Governor took some questions from the press, talking about how he believes Obama can turn NC blue in the general election as well as other swing states such as Virginia, Colorado, etc.
I know this is a brief summary but I need to run out the door in a few minutes to another Obama fundraiser at 5:30 and then a student voter registration meeting at NCSU at 9:00.
P.S. We registered 175 students this morning on campus, adding to the 156,000 new voters in North Carolina since Jan. 1, 2008. Woohoo!
